Localizationlab Localization Sprint

Where ?: Flyover Front
When ?: March 8th, 14:30 - 17:30 pm
Who ?: @heartsucker @dachary

Read about the context. About the organization:

I would recommend getting there 10 minutes early just to get settled and set up. The event will consist of small group rotating demos, each of about 10 - 15 minutes, so you will want to be able to give a brief overview of the tool, who the target users are and what your localization priorities are. We will also be sharing info about all of the participating projects prior to the event so that people should have some foundational information about each project. There will also be some individuals who have worked on the tool, so they may not even be interested in a demo, but opt for Q&A or discussion. After the demos (6 rounds) participants will dive into localization of tools and can follow up on discussions started during demo sessions. We will be helping people get set up with projects and those who are already in the middle of working on projects will have the opportunity to bring up any questions or feedback.

SecureDrop tool showcase

Where ?: La Plaza
When ?: March 8th, 5:00 - 7:30 pm

SecureDrop will be demonstrated during the Tool Showcase.

Info from the organization:

  • The Presentations will last cumulatively 8 minutes each (4 minutes for the tool developers and 4 minutes for the implementors)
  • The Presentations will be held THURSDAY 8th of MARCH at 5:00 PM at the Plaza
  • Each tool will have a dedicated table to which attendees can refer to, to ask questions and elaborate around the tool with you (meaning you’ll need to be there at least 30 minutes in advance)
  • We will have a projector and we’ll prepare the slide decks for you
  • You will not be alone on stage; our MC will be there to help you kickstart the presentation and follow up on your bulletpoints

SecureDrop table volunteers: @dachary, (anyone ?) we need swag ! @dachary will have a laptop prepared for demonstrations.
SecureDrop presentation: a SecureDrop trainer would be great (Olivia or Harlo) and looking for a SecureDrop user (that’s how the IFF organization suggests : two presenters, one from the team creating the tool and the other representing the users)

For the Tools showcase we need the following:

  • A good, high res or vector, transparent background of your tools logo (for devs)/organisation logo (for implementors)
  • 3 bullet points that you’d like to see on the slide deck
  • A paragraph (or two) with your presentation
  • (Optional, but very welcome) a high res, inspiring image

OK, I’ll do my best to put some of that together. I’ll use either LibreOffice presentation or HTML.
