Re: Add SecureDrop packages to Debian GNU/Linux and tails

Hey,

I was going through the GSoC ideas and found the “Add SecureDrop packages to Debian GNU/Linux and tails” idea quite interesting.

I wanted to know quite a few things about it:

  1. Is it that all the required ansible created package used in the SecureDrop setup are to be made into a single package and made available over the Linux repos?
  2. As I have very less experience with tails packages, Is it that the securedrop packages are to be shipped along with tails (in first install)?

This is an opportunity to learn more about Debian GNU/Linux packaging. The goal would be to have SecureDrop packages be part of the official distribution, meaning they must be built in compliance with the Debian guidelines. Once a package is in Debian GNU/Linux, it can be proposed to Tails and you can browse the pdf-redact-tools history for an example of how this is done.

I suggest you take time to try to become a Debian GNU/Linux developer as a first step. It will give you a good idea of what it entails.

Enjoy!
